Ninja Rathjens will be replacing Charlott-Maria Schürmann on the German team that has been selected to compete at the 2017 European Under 25 Championships in Lamprechtshausen, Austria, on 29 August 2017 - 3 September 2017.
The German equestrian federation has made a major booboo in inviting and selecting Schurmann on team. Aboard the Hanoverian stallion Burlington (by Breitling x Rohdiamant), Schurmann had been competing at senior Grand Prix level since 2014. As the german U25 team placed 'only' second behind The Netherlands at the 2017 CDIO Aachen, the German selectors asked Schurmann to drop back to the Under 25 division in order to give its U25 team a boost with a stronger combination.
However, Schurmann has not competed in any international Under 25 level show in 2017 and therefore did not obtain her minimum eligibilty standard for Lamprechtshausen. Therefore, the German federation is not allowed to send Schurmann to the 2017 Under 25 Euros.
Ninja Rathjens and her 10-year old Hanoverian gelding Emilio (by Earl x Dynamo) are now stepping in. The pair obtained its MES score at the 2017 CDIO-U25 in Riesenbeck and won the Louisdor Cup qualifier in Schenefeld on Sunday 20 August 2017.
Rathjens will be joining Klössinger, Nowag and Piotrowski on the team.
