German Grand Prix rider Stefanie Wolf has been invited as the guest judge rider for the 2018 Pavo Cup Finals which are held during KWPN Horse Days in Ermelo, The Netherlands, in August.
The Pavo Cup Finals are the Dutch Warmblood Young Horse championships for 4, 5 and 6-year olds.
The head rider at Johann Hinnemann's stable in Voerde, Germany, Wolf won bronze at the 2016 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo on Saphira Royal (by San Amour).
Wolf has also competed in the Pavo Cup Finals herself in 2013 and 2014 aboard Elton John (by Jazz), bred by Coby van Baalen.
"Already then I saw that this is a beautiful show for young dressage horses in Holland," Wolf commented. "The quality of the horses at the time was high and it's on honour to test them under saddle this year."
Wolf mentioned what she considers important: "three good basic gaits and not only a good trot and a lesser walk and canter. All three gaits need to be above average. Under saddle the feeling is very important to me. How is the horse's mouth? Does the horse let me sit him? Is he giving the right reactions? And finally the strength in the hindleg. A horse with much front and forehand is of course nice, but the engine has to be in the back."
