Quinoa (by Quaterback x Brentano II x Gotland) was named champion of the 2018 German Sport Horse (DSP) Stallion Licensing held at the Brandenburg state stud in Neustadt/Dosse.
A collection of 58 colts was presented and 22 of them were approved for breeding.
As usual the Brandenburg state stud presented the licensing champion out of its repeatedly used P-dam line (Belantis, Samba Hit, Don Royal). This year a Quaterback x Brentano II was the champion, bred and owned by Neustadt/Dosse.
In 2012 Quaterstern (by Quaterback) was licensing champion and this year he sired one of just three premium colts. Bred by Erhard Reiche, the Quaterstern x Sarotti x Festival Westfalia colt joined a De Koonig x Furst Heinrich x Arogno, bred by Heinrich Ramsbrock and owned by Katrin Hansen, in the premium ring.
The licensing champion in the jumping division was a Hickstead White x Chico's Boy colt.
At the auction following the licensing the top seller was the jumping champion, which sold for 70,000 euro. The premium colt by Quaterstern was knocked down for a mere 10,000 euro! The best selling dressage horse was the non-licensed Bon Coeur x Quadroneur which sold for 35,000 euro. A non-licensed Bordeaux x Quattro B colt sold for 31,000 euro to Luxembourg.
The average price for a colt at the auction was 20,442 euro.
