2019 Swedish Warmblood Young Horse Championships

The 3-year old Vita, 4-year old Mr Grey VH, the 5-year old Demand, the 6-year old HeideBlumen af JBP, and the 7-year old Astoria became the winners of the 2019 Swedish Warmblood Young Horse Championships held at the national equestrian centre in Flyinge, Sweden, on 24 - 29 September 2019.

These National Young Horse Championships are only open to Swedish warmblood bred and registered horses as well as stallions licensed for breeding with the Swedish Warmblood society.

The 3-year old division was judged by Annette Fransen-Iacobeaus, Susanne Barup and Ulrica Jacobs and it was a veni-vidi-vici for Swedish rider Camilla Axelsson who won gold, silver and bronze and had no less than 6 horses in the top 10 ! The judges saw the winner in Moa Halling's Swedish mare Vita (by Glamourdale x Bocelli). Under Camilla Axelsson the dark bay mare scored a winning total of 86.20 points after earning 8.5 for walk and trot, 8.8 for canter, 8.5 for submission and 8.8 for general impression. Vita is bred by Lena Nystrom. Silver went to Johanna Nihlgard's Koh-I-Noor (by Dragon Welt x Farewell III) with 85.20 points. This chestnut mare earned 9 for walk, 8.2 for trot, 8.4 for canter, 8.5 for submission and general impression. Jonsson and Svensson's stallion Livaldo (by Livaldon x Sir Donnerhall II) got the bronze with 83.40 points. He earned 8.8 for walk, 8.2 for trot and canter, 8 for submission and 8.5 for general impression. The Oldenburg stallion Total Hope was best represented in the 3-year old division with no less than four of his offspring in the top 10 and eight in total competing in a field of 29. Now based in Germany, Total Hope was the Swedish stallion performance test winner and stood his first years in Flyinge at stud.

The 4-year old division consisted of two rounds: the first one judged by Anne Gribbons, Isabel Wessels and Jan Ove Olssen, and the second round was Charlotte Dujardin as a test rider, assessing the 10 highest scoring horses of round 1. The champion was Jeanna Hogberg aboard Vastra Hoby stuteri's Mr Grey VH (by Grey Flanell x Dalwhinnie). They were first in the first round with 91.400 points and scored the second highest mark in the test round (95.00 points with 9.3 for rideability and 9.7 for potential) which resulted in a winning 93.200 total points. The silver went to Emilie Nyrerod on her mom's gelding Ramses i Bo (by Skovens Rafael x His Highness). They scored 88.60 in round 1 and placed third with a score of 82.50 from Dujardin (8 for rideability and 8.5 for potential). Ida Nordenberg Kuchenmeistern and Stall Hagg's mare Na'vi (by Vilancio x Nactus) scored 86.80 in round 1 and ranked eighth in the test round with 78.50 points (7.7 for rideability and 8 for potential) . Their total of 82.650 points landed them third. Interesting, 11 horses competing in the test round with Dujardin and the highest score was actually given to Antonia Ax:son Johnson's KWPN stallion Kane (by Dream Boy x Krack C). The Dutch warmblood was invited to the test round based on the fact that he was entered for the SWB Stallion Trophy. Presented by Caroline Darcourt, Kane got 97.50 points from Dujardin, but the horse was not part of the Championship.

Twelve horses competed in the 5-year old Finals judged by Lars Andersson, Anne Gribbons and Isobel Wessels. Finnish Yvonne Osterholm topped the board on Per-Arne Persson's licensed stallion Demand (by Ampere x Don Schufro) with 87.60 points. The black stallion got 9 for walk and trot, 8.8 for canter, 8 for submission and 9 for potential. Angelica Bystrom and Vikestallet's dark bay gelding Zapp VS (by Zack x Don Primero) were the runners-up with 85.60 points. He earned 9 for walk, 8.7 for trot, 8.3 for canter, 8 for submission and 8.8 for general impression. Sandra Sterntorp and Vastra Hoby Stuteri's bay stallion Bowmore VH (by Skovens Rafael x Akribori) landed the bronze with 82.40 points. He got 8.8 for walk, 7.9 for trot, 8.4 for canter, 7.7 for submission and 8.4 for potential.

Eight horses competed in the 7-year old finals in which Lars Andersson, Anette Fransen-Iacobaeus and Susanne Baarup cast the verdicts. Jeanna Hogberg and Christina Olsson's mare Astoria (by Sir Donnerhall II x Quaterback) moved into the winner's circle and got the champion's sash with a 79.586 total score. The bay mare got 8 for walk, 9 for trot and canter, 8.8 for submission and 9 for potential, alongside a 71.571% technical score. Cecilia Kristoffersen and Mosslunda's gelding Boston (by Belissimo M x Richfield) were silver with 76.100 points. They posted a 70.000% technical mark and got 8 for walk, 8.5 for trot, 8.3 for canter, 7.8 for submission and 8.5 for potential. Carl Hedin and Ulrika Bynander's Simmerbros Donna Frapin (by Sir Donnerhall II x Florestan) scored bronze with 73.243%. The bay mare got 67.286% for the technical part and 8 for walk, 8.2 for trot, 7.8 for canter, 7.6 for submission and 8 for potential.
