Adelinde Cornelissen has made her Grand Prix debut with the Parzival full brother Fleau de Baian.

At the local show in Haskerhorne, The Netherlands, on Saturday 14 December, Adelinde steered the 9-year old KWPN stallion Fleau de Baian (by Jazz x Ulft) through his first ever Grand Prix test. The pair finished 6th with 68.732%.

The Haskerhorne Grand Prix was won by Denise Nekeman on Boston with 71.848%, followed by Adelinde on Zephyr (71.087%).

Cornelissen took to Facebook and wrote, "Fleau de Baian also came along. He almost got 69% in his very first Grand Prix. He still felt green here and there and he was wide awake, but the feeling he gave me was really cool."

Once-in-a-Lifetime Horse Parzival

For many years Adelinde Cornelissen and Parzival were Holland's number one Grand Prix, breaking records at her first Championships: the 2009 Europeans in Windsor and then moving on to win individual gold at the 2011 Europeans in Rotterdam and individual silver at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

They won the 2012 World Cup Finals and were second in 2013. They got bronze at the 2013 Europeans in Herning, bronze at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen.

Their swan song at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with a retirement from the Grand Prix was the unfortunate end of Parzival's illustrous career.

Working on the Way Back to the Top

Since Parzival's retirement in March 2017 Cornelissen has two horses at international Grand Prix level: the home bred 15-year old Zephyr (by Jazz x Zeoliet) and her life partner Aris van Manen's 14-year old stallion Aqiedo (by Undigo x Metall).

Aqiedo did his last international ten months ago at the 2019 CDI-W Neumunster in February. With Zephyr she rode the World Cup qualifier in Herning in October.  With Zephyr Adelinde came close to recapturing a spot on the Dutch team for the 2019 Europeans in Rotterdam and was considered first reserve.

Cornelissen also has the two small tour level horses Henkie and Governor in her barn.
