The Oldenburg bred and newly KWPN approved colt Maclaren (by Totilas x De Niro x Sandro Hit) has been sold to Denmark.
Helgstrand Dressage acquired the 3-year old black stallion in partnership with Hanni Toosbuy Kasprzak, the CEO of Danish shoe multinational Ecco.
Maclaren is bred by R. Knauf in Germany and was owned by Dutch horse dealer Ad Valk.
Because the long-legged black colt is Oldenburg registered, he could not be invited to the premium ring at the 2020 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch, which concluded on 1 February 2020. The stallion will need to do his stallion performance test in Ermelo, The Netherlands this spring or autumn to receive a licensed status and to have permission to breed for the KWPN society.
Because of his German origin, Maclaren's name has been changed into Total Maclaren to include the first letter of the sire's name, Totilas according to the German system.
Dutch equestrian magazine Horses.nl interviewed seller Ad Valk, who stated that "such a stallion you of course like to keep in The Netherlands, but I also have my business and the pot needs to keep boiling. Once in a while you need to sell the horses."
