Belamour, the 16-year old Westfalian licensed stallion by Belissimo M x Lord Sinclair, was euthanized after his recovery from a career ending injury in November took a turn for the worse.

In November 2019 Belamour injured himself in a field accident in Denmark. He got his hindleg caught in the top wire of the fence and it cut through three tendons. The horse was operated on at Højgård equine clinic and the first prognosis of a recovery for a retirement in the field seemed good.

Unfortunately the left hindleg had to overcompensate and sustained an injury. The horse was no longer able to support itself. Despite all efforts tried, it was eventually decided to put Belamour to sleep on Sunday 8 March 2020.

Successful Junior Riders Horse

Bred by Wilhelm Strunk in Germany, Belamour was licensed in 2006 and did his 30-day stallion performance test in Neustadt/Dosse in October 2007, where he scored 8.49 for dressage and 7.82 for show jumping.

He was competed once in Germany by Matthias Bouten nefore selling to the Flyinge state stud, where Susanne Gielen took over the training. They represented Sweden at the 2009 and 2010 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, Germany.

In his years standing at stud, he covered 115 mares in 2008, 56 in 2009, 34 in 2010 and 30 in 2011. He's got 154 offspring registered in Sweden.

In 2012 he sold to the Norwegian Andresen family and became Alexandra Andresen's junior riders horse. The pair earned her silver and bronze at the 2013 European Junior Riders Championships in Compiegne and double individual silver at the 2014 European Junior Riders Championships in Arezzo.

Struggle with Injuries

As of 2015 he had been sidelined because of injury, but returned to the arena in 2017 for three CDI's (Kristiansand, Uggerhalne, Ermelo). The CDI 1* in Ermelo in August 2017 was his last.

In September 2017 Belamour was operated on for an inguinal hernia and lost one testicle. The stallion recovered but never returned to the show arena.
