Heartbreaker, Emma Kanerva's 2018 World Equestrian Games' ride, has been sold to German Young rider Susanna Schmaus.
Heartbreaker is 15-year old Hanoverian gelding by His Highness out of Erle (by Espri x Al Capone x Arkansas). He is bred by Sönke Berger.
Heartbreaker was first competed by the Luxembourg based Mandy Zimmer, who purchased him as a 3-year old from KLaus Balkenhol in 2008. They did their first show in 2010 and she took the horse from A-level to Prix St Georges in three years time.
In 2015 the Finnish but Luxembourg based Terhi Stegars competed the horse at national shows in Germany for a year bringing him up to medium tour level, after which he was moved to Holga Finken's yard in Germany to be sold.
Holga showed the big grey at Grand Prix level at some local shows, before Emma Kanerva took over the ride in 2018 for new owner Gert Saborowski.
Kanerva and Heartbreaker had a successful international season in 2019, winning the 2018 Hamburg Dressage Derby and competing at CDI's in Uggerhalne, Falsterbo, and Cappeln. They represented Finland at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon and were 48th in the Grand Prix with 67.516%.
After Tryon, the pair finished the year in Oldenburg. In 2019 they rode two more internationals, in Aalborg and Uggerhalne.
Heartbreaker has been sold to 19-year old Susanna Schmaus, who made her show debut on the gelding at small tour level at the CDN Kreuth in September 2019. Last weekend, the pair rode its first Grand Prix level test in Karlsfeld and placed sixth.
Schmaus came from ponies, starting her national competition career as an 11-year old in 2012 with Timm's Halunke (by Hattrick x Nightfire). Her first horses were Bijou (by Belissimo M x Rotspon) and Samarantio (by Samarant x Del Piero).
