Rumours have been running rife that the Addington Manor Equestrian Centre, a leading venue for national and international equestrian competitions in the UK, suddenly closed for business.

The rumours of Addington having gone out of business were fueled after the footing of several arena's in Addington was removed.

In a statement posted on 18 March, Becky Philipson of Addington Equestrian 2019 Ltd explains that, "we have had an altercation with a supplier; however, this would not be the reason behind any closure."

However, Addington  has confirmed a "temporary" closure due to Covid-19 in the U.K.

"We considered several changes such as limiting and monitoring numbers on site, changing class formats, and other innovative ways to remain physically open, but the reality is that we would simply be delaying the inevitable. The sooner we move to a manageable contingency plan, the better for us all," said Addington management.

They continued: "Right now, our priority is to deliver on a contingency plan, and it is all-hands-on-deck to move towards that. Currently this includes new outdoor surfaces, forthcoming arena hire opportunities, closely monitored clinics, and generally monitoring the escalating situation on a day by day basis. There is no doubt that this is an unprecedented time for all of us and many businesses are feeling the vulnerability of the situation, but there is no reason why we can’t embrace the chaos and make the most out of a changing situation."

Addington was a host of an international indoor dressage competition in 2003, 2004, 2007, and from 2009 through 2015. Addington also hosts the Brightwells elite dressage sales.
