The 5-year old premium Hanoverian stallion Meilenstein has passed away after a freak accident in the paddock on 25 April 2020.

Meilenstein was by Millennium out of Duella (by Donnerhall x Hohstein) and bred by Breeders Group Rösch and Küster.

The black was presented at the 2017 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden by Gestut Sprehe and was named premium stallion.  He sold at the auction to the State Stud in Celle for 140,000 euro.

In April 2018 he did his 14-day stallion suitability test in Neustadt-Dosse, but failed the testing with just 6.45 in jumping and 7.0 dressage (total 6.98 points) and was not allowed to stand at stud.  He went for a second chance to the 50-day stallion performance testing in Schlieckau in November 2018 and passed with 8,46 points - this time scoring no points below 8.0. He got his licensed status back.

Wolfhard Witte competed Meilenstein at one show in Elmlohe and finished second three times the weekend of 1 - 3 August 2019.

Neverthless Celle decided to let go of the colt and in October 2019 they sent him to the Hanoverian Autumn Elite Auction in Verden, where he sold for 52,000 euro to the Schleier family.

For the 2020 breeding season the black stood at stud at Burghof Brodhecker in Wolfskehlen, but unfortunately a tragic accident ended his life.

"During his turnout in the stallion paddock he fell and injured himself severely," said Joachim Schleier. "Despite our immediate help and an hour-long operation in the equine clinic of Großostheim, the injury was too severe and with a heavy heart we decided to put him to sleep."

"Meilenstein was a very special stallion, which although very short, gave us much pleasure," Schleier added. "He stood out by his willingness to work and his fun character."
