Royal Visit to Nicolas Wagner's Yard in Luxembourg

Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, goes for a ride on one of Nicolas Wagner's horses

Nicolas Wagner, the Grand Prix rider who unlocked Luxembourg's first ever Olympic entry in equestrian sport in history, received royal visit at his yard in Luxembourg on 2 June 2020. 

Guillaume, the heir apparent to his father Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, paid a visit to Wagner and saw him train his top horse Quater Back Junior as well as got shown the barn and other horses. 

"Prince Guillaume was curious to learn more about the training and preparation of an athlete for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, which have been postponed to 2021 because the health crisis," the royal court stated. "Despite a considerably altered calendar, the rider and his horse Quater Back Junior  have not lost sight of their big goal and continue to train and participate in shows. He took home a first place last week in the 3* Grand Prix at the CDI Mariakalnok in Hungary."

Wagner invited the Heir apparent to take seat in the saddle, which was highly appreciated. 

Luxembourg is the only grand duchy existant. The title of grand duke was bestowed on a distant male cousin of William III, Adolphe, from the elder branch of Nassau-Weilburg (at present Luxembourg-Nassau). The current monarch is Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, since 2000.
