The 4-year old Leeghwater was the best selling youngster in the first edition of the 2020 Dutch Dressage Stars, a new online auction with capsule collections of talented youngsters.
Dutch Dressage Stars is a brand new partnership of three Dutch horse scouts - Nikay van Duren, Diederik van Silfhout, and Diederik Wigmans - who have merged to scout, train and sell talented young dressage horses. The trio will be auctioning small collections of young dressage horses in online auctions at regular intervals in 2020.
The first edition had three horses.
Leeghwater (by Franklin x Tango) became the best seller, fetching a sales price of 57,000 euro. He sold to Canadian Grand Prix team rider Jill Irving and her husband Robert, but the horse will move to Canadian WEG team rider Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu for further training. The horse is named after the famous 17th century Dutch architect, mill builder and hydraulic engineer Jan Adriaanszoon Leeghwater. The horse made it through the first round but stranded in the second phase of the 2019 KWPN Stallion Licensing.
The other two horses, Liberg (by Spielberg x Goodtimes) and Lionel (by Toto Jr x Olivi), sold to the same client in The Netherlands.
