Brood Farm Black Horses, the owner of the breeding estate of KWPN's most successful breeder ever, Huub van Helvoirt, has decided to close its dressage breeding programme and focus on show jumping. They have decided to auction their exceptional dressage horses on 1 August 2020.
This is a unique opportunity to secure youngstock, trained young horses and competed dressage horses from the Black Horse breeding programme, grafted on the legacy of the late Huub van Helvoirt.
First Part of Collection Online
The first part of the collection of the Black Horses Auction has been published. For the online auction on Saturday 1 August, Black Horses Auction presents 12 exclusive sporthorses and 5 genetically highly interesting broodmares.
This includes for example Grand Prix mare Endy BH, Prix St. Georges mare Dendy and talent Le Zorro BH.
Later on this week, the remaining 3- and 4-year-old dressage horses will be revealed.
A Horse for Every Dressage Lover
"Every dressage lover can find an interesting horse in the first edition of the Black Horses Auction," said organizers Jan Vink and Peter van de Waaij. "In addition to the now published sporthorses and broodmares, another 23 three- and four-year-old dressage horses will be published later on this week."
These promising talents will also be auctioned online on Saturday 1 August.
Grand Prix mare Endy BH & PSG mare Dendy
“It is a pleasure to work with Endy BH; everyday she is enthusiastic and diligent. She is really talented for piaffe, passage and the tempi changes. She excels in these movements for the higher level”, says Endy BH's rider Marianne van der Vorm.
Another superstar in the collection is Dendy - a Jazz daughter out of the legendary Ulft mare Endy. Dendy is currently performing at Prix St. Georges level ridden by Marianne van der Vorm.
“Dendy has a lot of talent, also for the highest level. Dendy has a very pleasant, good character and is a superb sporthorse. She is certainly suitable for a very ambitious competition rider. ”
Future talents
In addition to experienced competition horses, the collection of the Black Horses Auction also includes talents for the future. For example, the 7-year-old Impact BH, a gelding by Apache x Jazz.
"Really a horse for the future with a lot of talent for the higher level movements," says Black Horses Stud manager Carlo van Kaathoven.
The best dressage lines
At Black Horses Stud, the best dressage lines are used for breeding. From the well-known Endy line to the Daula line, but also the Zinni van Wittenstein line, the Landsvrouwe line and the successful Worona / Pabola line.
Speaking of breeding; in the first edition of the Black Horses Auction 5 exclusive broodmares are also offered. For instance the Vivaldi daughter Edelvrouwe, who was bred out of the famous Landsvrouwe line. Edelvrouwe’s dam Weidevrouwe is the sister of none other than Glock's Undercover N.O.P. ridden by Edward Gal.
Two other very interesting broodmares are the half-sisters Catalpa BH (by Briar) and Forsytha BH (by Sir Donnerhall I). Both mares were bred out of the Ferro daughter Tomentosa Le Coupied - dam of Grand Prix dressage horse Zygrande Le Coupied. Via granddam Lotus, Catalpa BH and Forsytha BH go back to the famous Charites – the dam of among others Hans Peter Minderhoud’s Olympic mare Nadine. Catalpa BH and Forsytha BH were bred out of the famous Zinni van Wittenstein line.
