The bay colt Kratos (by Freiherr von Stein x Herakles) became the top seller of the 2020 Trakehner Hybrid Foal Auction, which concluded on 25 July 2020.
The Trakehner breed has a niche market of weathly buyers who are willing to invest large amounts of money in Trakehner foals.
Kratos sold for 37,000 euro, while Top Secret (by Kwahu x Cadeau) fetched 29,000 euro.
The most expensive filly was the tobino coloured Praise Me (by High Motion x Insterburg), which sold for 20,000 euro.
Colt Heisser Stein (by Freiherr von Stein x Horsica) fetched 16,000 euro, while fillies Luxusmädchen (by Freiherr von Stein x Singolo) and Kadenza (by Millennium x Elfado) both sold for 15,000 euro.
Bidding at the Auction Wins over Online Bidding
A collection of 17 foals was offered for sale in this hybrid auction for which the bidding took place online as well as at the event itself in Munster-Handorf, run during the Trakehner Young Horse Championships on 25 July.
Interesting to note is that the majority of the foals were sold to bidders who were physically present in Munster-Handorf, and not to clients sitting behind the computer.
The average price for a foal was 14,470 euro.
