Ava Gold KE became the best selling foal in the first online foal auction hosted by the Westfalian breed society, which concluded on 17 August 2020.
Thirteen riding pony foals were sold and they achieved an average price of 4,385 euro.
Ava Gold KE (by A new Star x Cosmopolitan D) became the best seller of the auction. Bred and owned by Elke Kühn, the pony foal sold for 10,500 euro. The filly is out of reserve Bundeschampion, SPS Caramba KE.
Another Star (by A New Star x FS Champion de Luxe) sold for 8,500 euro.
The most popular Haflinger foal was Nachtregentin (by Nachtregent x Barolo). She changed into new ownership for 3,250 euro.
For the first time Icelandic foals were offered for sale as well. Unfortunately, this did not yet bring the desired success; maybe because the publicity around this pony foal auction was minimal.
Mjöður von der Wechter Mark (by þráinn frá Flagbjarnarholti) had a highest bid of 11,000 euro but it is unclear if the Icelandic was bought back by the owner.
"Nevertheless, we would like to thank the breeders for their trust. We are pleased that they have participated in this pilot project. For the next attempt, we now know which adjustments we still have to make", said auction and marketing manager Thomas Münch.
