The show organisation of the 2020 CDI Madrid has been plagued by Covid-19 woes non-stop, despite their good intentions to stage an international in 2020.
After cancelling/ postponing their 2020 CDI Madrid of March due to Covid-19 raging through Europe, the organisation now also has to cancel - or postpone - its October edition of the CDI.
The event was scheduled to take place at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid on 22 - 25 October 2020.
"The decision (to postpone) is motivated by the evolution of COVID-19 in our country, which is once again registering a fast increase in detected cases, which has led some countries to recommend not traveling to Spain, when not to prohibit it," show director Javier García Cotarelo told Eurodressage. "This would have made the development of the event extremely difficult, since it will be impossible for several officials to come, as well as many riders who would have been interested."
The second cancellation of the highly liked CDI is a big blow for the ambitious and enthusiastic show organization.
"We have dedicated all our effort and enthusiasm for the second time this year to try to carry it out, after the first postponement since the dates we had initially planned in March," Cotarelo explained. "We have decided not to withhold this communication in order to minimize the damage to all interested parties, and that as far as possible they have the opportunity to recondition their agendas."
The team in Madrid hopes to stage a CDI in 2021.
