Ruud van Tienen

Dutch equestrian photographer Ruud van Tienen passed away in his home in Rochefort, France, on 25 September 2020 after a long illness. He was 91 years old. 

Van Tienen was born on 18 March 1929 in Amsterdam and first served in the Dutch military, working in administration. 

He then worked as a journalist his entire life the newspaper Het Vrije Volk.

After his retirement he became an equestrian photographer, following in the wake of his wife Yana van Tienen, who was famous Dutch dressage book author in the 1990s (Dresuur Favorieten, De New Forest Pony).

Ruud van Tienen worked for Dutch equestrian publications De Hoefslag, Paard & Sport, De Forester, and De Trakehner. 

Van Tienen is survived by his wife Yana van Tienen-Engelsman, their child, Roelie, and three grand children, Sandor, Irina, and Mila. 

The funeral took place on 30 September 2020 in St. Loupe de Saintonge, France.
