The former French Grand Prix team horse Ultrablue de Massa has started a new chapter in its career with French junior rider Mathilde Juglaret.

Ultrablue is a 12-year old Portuguese sport horse by the Oldenburg stallion Rubin Royal out of the Lusitano mare Kaluna d'Almonda (by Almonda Mac). He is bred in France by Sylvain Massa.

Ludovic Martin

Owned by Anne-Sophie Bernard de la Gatinais, the liver chestnut made his international show debut as a 5-year old under Massa's resident rider Ludovic Martin.

The pair competed in the young horse classes at the CDI Pompadour, Vidauban and Vierzon in 2013 and 2014.

Arnaud Serre

Three years later Ultrablue returned to the CDI stage under Grand Prix rider Arnaud Serre, competing at the CDI Nice winning the medium tour.

Two months later they made their Grand Prix debut in Saumur. The combination was selected for the French team for the Nations Cup in Rotterdam and Hickstead and went on to represent France at the 2017 European Dressage Championships in Gothenburg, where they were 28th in the Special.

They missed the majority of the 2018 show season due to the injury, but came back in the summer fro Hickstead.

In 2019 the pair went full throttle again, competing in NIce, Saumur, and Compiegne and returned on the French team for the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam, where they were 36th in the Grand Prix. They also finished fifth at the 2019 French Grand Prix Championships.

The 2019 CDI Nice in October was the combination's last international start. They did not compete internationally in 2020 and only started once nationally at the CDN Macon in July, where they were 7th in the Grand Prix and third in the Special.

Mathilde Juglaret

Ultrablue has now been allocated to French junior team rider Mathilde Juglaret, who is the daughter of Arnaud Serre's wife Anne-Sophie from her first marriage.

The 16-year old Juglaret has now received the ride on Ultrablue as a future young riders and Under 25 horse.

Mathilde's international dressage career did not begin on ponies, but on horses in the children division in 2017. She represented France at the 2017 European Children Championships with the Oldenburg Scarletto (by Sandro Hit x Frisbee). In 2019 she rode on the French junior team at the Europeans in San Giovani with the Lusitano Venise de Massa (by Maestro JGB x Fuzilador OCO). This year she finished 7th in the Kur to Music finals at the 2020 European Junior Riders Championships in Pilisjaszfalu aboard the Lusitano Caporal de Massa (by Rieto x Xaqiero).

In an interview with Dressprod, Mathilde's mom Anne-Sophie Serre explained that, "it is not sure yet if they'll begin (competing) next year because Mathilde has to prepare for her Baccalaureate, so it's not sure if she'll have enough time to ride Ultrablue and prepare for that type of tests (Under 25). We'll see how things develop and if it's possible to add him to her string. In the meantime she will not only get to learn the Grand Prix movements but also learn from working with upper level horses."

The family's 10-year old son Andréa Serre is currently riding Venise de Massa and preparing for children's level.
