An embryo from Uusminka, the full sister of Totilas became the price highlight of the inaugural Mount St John online auction. The embryo by Foundation sold for 24,000 euro to an anonymous buyer in Denmark.

A collection of 13 lots sold to international buyers from Denmark, USA, Spain, Portugal, France, UK, Sweden and Finland who participated in the first ever Mount St John Broodmare and embryo auction, which concluded on Sunday 6 December 2020.

The second most expensive lot was a Totilas embryo out of MSJ Dancefloor, a daughter of the stud’s flagship horse Mount St John Freestyle which sold to USA buyer Sid Toama of Neo Equine for 23,000 euro.  Sid also acquired the Glamourdale embryo out of MSJ Best Kept Secret.

"Mount St John continues to be the premier global operation in performance dressage breeding, as demonstrated in Blundell’s offering at MSJ’s recent embryo auction," said Toama. "The selection of embyros were spectacular with some of 2021’s most exciting marriages of legacy and modern performance bloodlines.  MSJ’s mix of art and science is a massive draw for modern equestrian operations like ours, continuing to build innovation into the sport of dressage.  We are delighted with the outcome and acquiring two of the most exciting embryos of the collection, to build on our collection of existing MSJ foals."

Atterupgaards Dallara
Alberto Abajo of Spain, who acquired two embryos for a total of 37,000 euro, said,  “I have always been involved in top quality projects, including racehorses, purebred Spanish horses, limousine cows and show dogs.  In my philosophy and experience, maternal lines are decisive for success.  After having done a study on the current breeders in the world of dressage horses, I have concluded that Mount St John is one of the most incredible projects, and after speaking with Emma I know that we are focused in the same direction.'

"Regarding the choice of embryos, Atterupgaards Dallara is currently one of the most important broodmares and families in the dressage world, and covered by Totilas it was an easy choice," Abajo explained.  "Dance Musik, the full sister to Desperados, who has been #1 in the FEI ranking, has already produced super offspring, and is now expecting a foal by Dynamic Dream, one of the exciting young stallions that gives us great expectations.  It will be a pleasure to found my new dressage breeding project on MSJ lines and have a direct collaboration with the stud."

The average price for 7 embryos sold in recipient mares was 18,927 euro.
