Jurre 495, Champion of the 2021 Friesian Stallion Licensing

The 10-year old Jurre 495 was proclaimed the champion of the 2021 Friesian Stallion Licensing in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, on 17 January 2021. 

The 2021 edition of the Friesian Licensing happened behind closed doors due to Covid-19 restrictions in The Netherlands. The licensing committee, consisting of Sabien Zwaga, Jan Hellinx and Corry Terpstra,

The Friesian studbook reviews stallions in several age categories at the licensing and invites the best ones across the age groups for a "champion's ring" in which the "Overall Day Champion's Title" is awarded.

At the 2021 Friesian Licensing,  the committee decided that this year the overall winner is the 10-year old Jurre 495. 

Bred by H. Deinum and owned by Stal Chardon in partnership with Hans Jurgen Niemeyer, Jurre is by Maurits 437 x Jasper 366. 

"He's a stallion with an excellent trot, a stallion who never lets you down," said Zwaga. This is the fourth time that Jurre became the overall champion of the licensing. He earned the titles before in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

The 10-year old Jehannes 484 was named the reserve champion. Bred by J. Bakker and owned by B. boot and the Age Okkema family, the black stallion is by Tsjalle 454 out of an Oepke 266 x Fokke 217 dam. He was the overall champion of the 2015 licensing. 

"He's a stallion with a very consistent performance, who time and again had very good hind leg usage," said Zwaga.
