The organizing committee of the 2021 CDI Lier on 2 - 7 March 2021 have announced that there event will be cancelled due to tightened corona measures in Belgium.

The CDI Lier is annually hosted at equestrian centre Azelhof in Lier, Belgium, and is an action packed international indoor competition.

In 2020 the event took place right before the corona outbreak, but for 2021 the organizers have pulled the plug.

"The rules in Belgium are currently getting stricter to beat the corona virus," said Joyce Lebon. "The quarantine rules for foreign officials and participants make it too difficult to organise the show. Furthermore, the Belgian government does not allow the organization of youth classes (above the age of 13). These are the reasons why we cancelled the show."

Few European Winter Shows

The winter CDI show options are slim pickings this year with the majority of events cancelled.

The first big upcoming CDI will be in Le Mans, France, on 12 - 14 February, followed by a 3* in Motesice, Slovakia on 26 - 28 February.

In Portugal more competition options are available for riders seeking to gain some ring mileage and hopefully some sunshine. There is a back-to-back two weekend CDI event in Cascais on 26 - 28 February and 5 - 7 March 2021, immediately followed by the CDI Beloura on 12 - 14 March 2021.

Some of the world's elite riders have agreed to be flown first class to the posh CDI 5* in Doha on 25 - 27 February 2021, but this is a small invitation-only event.

Wait until March

First big CDI action to be expected in Europe is for the weekend of 17 - 21 March 2021 with no less than five CDI's planned.

That weekend CDI's with a full programme of youth classes up to Grand Prix are taking place in Opglabbeek (BEL), Exloo (NED), Ornago (ITA), Macon (FRA), and Keysoe (GBR)
