Wellington Life

The Canadian born Ashley Holzer used to split her time between Florida  in winters and Riverdale Equestrian Center in the Bronx in New York City in summers. However more recently she has been staying in Wellington year round.

Holzer competed on the Canadian team at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and has represented Canada at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympics. She also rode at the 1990 World Equestrian Games in Stockholm, in Jerez in 2002, in Aachen in 2006 and in Lexington in 2010. She competed in the World Cup Finals in Gothenburg in 1989 and Las Vegas in 2009. She won team gold at the 1991 Pan American Games in Havana and team silver at the 2003 Pan Am Games in Santo Domingo.

In 2017 she declared for the U.S.A.

Holzer's two yards in Wellington are next door to each other. Her neighbour on the other side is Kim van Kampen's Hampton Green Farm.

With a long string of loyal clients and sponsors, including P.J. Rizvi, Diane Fellows, and Jill Irving, as well as students Eliane Cordia-van Reesema, Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu, Lindsay Kellock and Naima Moreira-Laliberte, amongst others, Holzer needed the extra space and bought a second barn.

Holzer is one of the most sought after dressage trainers in Wellington.

The property was sold by real estate agent Matt Johnson, a former international dressage rider himself.

Johnson competed in 2014 and 2015 in the international young horses in Wellington and represented the U.S.A. at the 2014 World Young Horse Championships in Verden aboard the Danish warmblood stallion Petersborg's Qasanova (by Quaterback x Calypso II). In February 2018 the pair rode in national Prix St Georges class in Wellington.

Holzer's second yard is in the same street as dressage riders Kasey Perry-Glass and Barbara Asplundh.
