The Dutch equestrian federation has announced the teams that will represent The Netherlands at the 2021 European Junior and Young Riders Championships in Oliva Nova, Spain, on 5 - 11 July 2021.
Youth Team Trainer Moninque Peutz made her selection based on the riders' results at the Dutch Championships as well as national observation trials held in Holland due to the corona pandemic which prevented competitions from taking place.
"Of course these are strange times with an unusual preparation, but they handled it super well," said Peutz. "As soon as we were allowed we held two scouting days for a group of youth riders that were team potentials this year. Every one was able to find their rhythm. After that we had three observation shows, the first was the CDI Exloo, then a national shows and last weekend the Dutch Championships. You see the combinations need this rhythm and that there were on form at the Nationals. I have a lot of confidence heading towards the Europeans in Oliva Nova."
Biggest absentee from the team is former European Junior and Young Riders Champion Daphne van Peperstraten, who opted this year to prepare her top horse Cupido for the Under 25 division and has been campaigning the younger and less experienced Hotmail in the Young Riders division.
