As last nation to announce its team for the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, the Dutch Equestrian Federation announced its dressage team in the afternoon of 5 July.

Team trainer Alex van Silfhout selected the following three riders and one travelling reserve:

  • Edward Gal on Total US
  • Hand Peter Minderhoud on Dream Boy
  • Marlies van Baalen on Go Legend

The traveling reserve is Dinja van Liere on Haute Couture.

Joop van Uytert, owner of Dinja van Liere’s number 1 horse Hermes, saw his appeal with the Court of Arbitration dismissed this morning. He lodged an appeal first with the FEI Tribunal and then with CAS over Hermes being barred from the Games for not fulfilling the rules of ownership. The Dutch equestrian federation claims it was an administrative error from the FEI’s part while the FEI sees that owner/rider/federation as person responsible for checking,on time, whether the paperwork is in order. The “administrative error” dates back to July 2018.
