Belgian show organizer and horse owner Veronique Van Geenberghe passed away on 5 July after a long illness. She was 55 years old.
For years she and her family, including late father Jacques and late brother Jean-Claude Van Geenberghe, ran the Zilveren Spoor Equestrian Centre in Moorsele, Belgium, building it up to one of the largest equestrian centres in Europe and an important accommodation for the WVUR.
In 2009, only a few months after the death of her father and a few weeks after the death of her brother Jean-Claude, she organised the European Championships for Jumping, Dressage and Eventing for children and a few weeks later for ponies.
She was also responsible for numerous organisations of international four-star jumpings and international dressage competitions for youth riders.
"Veronique was proof that greatness is not a question of stature," said Stephan Detry, President of the Royal Belgian Equestrian Federation.
Veronique's last wish to say goodbye in an intimate circle was honoured.
