Rosatrichta van de Westen (by Le Formidable x Apache) was named the winner of the 2021 KWPN Foal Championships which took place on Friday 13 August 2021.

Five years after sire Le Formidable claimed the Foal champion's title, his daughter Rosatrichta van de Westen received the champion's sash. She is bred by Cees Kikkert out of his elite mare Itrichta van de Westen.

“The most remarkable quality of this foal is that she moves very naturally, using her entire body,” exclaimed an enthusiastic judge Johan Hamminga, who inspected the dressage foals together with Arie Hamoen and Pedro Trommelen. “She is long-legged, attractive and has a solid conformation and a beautiful head. In movement, she demonstrates lots of technique.”

It was mare power in the 2021 KWPN Foal Championship as a filly also took the reserve champion's title: Rylena (by Kyton out of My Lena (by Blue Hors Zack x Sir Sinclair)). Bred by Rom Vermunt via embryotransfer, Rylena also had her full brother competing in the 2021 KWPN Foal Championships, but he was third in the first round and not invited to the champion's ring. Under Bart Veeze, their dam My Lena ZL finished sixth in the 4-year old division of the 2021 Pavo Cup Finals the same weekend.

“This is an appealing foal with lots of presence, she moves with remarkable elasticity in her body," the judges stated.

The third placed foal was colt Ready to Rumble (by Le Formidable out of Eos-Utopia (by Ampere), bred by Rik van Gils and owned by Saskia Poel and D. Knoops.

“This is a well-developed foal that moves uphill and in a very light-footed way. He has a superb canter," Hamminga stated.
