Denmark's number one FEI dressage pony and multiple European Pony Championship medal winner, Adriano B, has been sold to a new rider, Laura Qvist.
Adriano B is a 15-year old Rhinelander bred gelding by De Angelo B out of First Lady B (by Flying Dream x Valentino). He is bred by Ludwig Stassen of Gestut Bonninger.
Danish Breakthrough
He was discovered in Germany by the Danish Rohmann family and brought to Denmark, where he become one of the country's strongest performing ponies.
Karoline Rohmann made her international show debut on the chestnut at the 2014 CDI Saumur. They were fourth at the 2014 Danish FEI Pony Championships. She competed him at the 2014 and 2015 European Pony Championships in Millstreet and Malmo, where they were 8th and 10th in the Kur to Music finals. In 2015 they won team bronze. Rohmann did not compete at the 2015 Danish Pony Championships.
In 2016 Adriano B sold to Camilla Bach Sorensen for Claudia Kjaer to ride. She presented the pony at CDI's in 2016 and 2017, but was not selected on the danish team.
Helgstrand
In 2018 Adriano B sold to Andreas Helgstrand for his son Alexander. The new duo made its CDI debut in Aalborg in the spring of 2018 and competed in Uggerhalne and Drammen that year before heading to the 2018 European Pony Championships in Bishop Burton, where they won triple silver. A few weeks later added the 2018 Danish Pony Champion's title to their tally.
In preparation of the 2019 European Pony Championships, Helgstrand did not travel outside Denmark, but secured team selection at three CDI's in his own country: Aalborg, Uggerhalne and Aarhus. At the 2019 Europeans in Strzegom, Poland, he secured triple gold, having led team Denmark to a historic team gold medal. Alexander decided not to finish the year defending his title at the 2019 Danish Pony Championships.
Obel Jorgensen
Shortly after the summer of 2019, Adriano B received a new rider, Sophie Obel Jorgensen. Officially the ownership record did not change with the FEI and he continued to be listed as owned by Helgstrand.
Obel Jorgensen and Adriano B achieved a triple win at their debut CDI in Lier, Belgium, in February 2020. They competed at the 2020 European Pony Championships in Pilisjaszfalu, where they won triple silver. They did not compete at the 2020 Danish Pony Championships.
A year later at the 2021 Europeans in Strzegom they earned double individual bronze and team silver. They finished the year by winning the 2021 Danish Pony Championships.
Fifth Rider, Seven European Championships
Like many FEI ponies who serve long careers as schoolmasters, Adriano B has now been paired to her fifth Danish rider, Laura Qvist. Ridehesten reported the news.
The 13-year old is yet to make her international show debut, but has been gaining mileage aboard a familiar pony, the 14-year old Westfalian Der Kleine Lord (by Der Feine Lord x Chantre B), who competed at the 2014 European Championships under Alexandra Hellings and then sold to British pony rider Gemma Owen, who rode him through 2018. The bay then sold to Denmark to be shown by Nathalie Thomassen, before Qvist took over in 2020.
The seven-time European Pony Championship participant Adriano B now joins Qvist's string of ponies, which also includes the 6-year old Coeur de Lion R. She trains with Katrine Kraglund.
