Rosentanz, the business starting stallion of Danish stallion owner and breeder Lone Boegh Henriksen of HP Horses, has passed away.
Rosentanz was a 20-year old Hanoverian licensed stallion by Rohdiamant out of Sabrina (by Sao Paulo x Feingau). He was bred by Josef Brinkmöller.
Hanoverian Licensing
A highly successful real estate agent in Denmark, Lone Boegh Henriksen always had a love for horses and decided to slowly build hobby brood farm HP Horses into a professional business by acquiring her own breeding stallion.
She travelled to the 2003 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden, where she fell in love with the premium stallion Rosentanz, who was presented by Johannes Westendarp. She bought him in the auction as the price highlight for 200,000 euro.
Interesting to note is that this 2003 Hanoverian licensing and auction also included stallions Desperados (Kristina Sprehe) and Santana (Minna Telde) which went on to compete at the 2012 Olympic Games. Henriksen named the stallion Rosentanz as a direct referral to Johaness Westendarp's own licensed stallion Wolkentanz II.

Sport Career
Rosentanz was kept in training with Johannes Westendarp. He was fifth at the 2004 Hanoverian Young Horse Championships, which qualified him for the 2004 Bundeschampionate, where he was 11th.
In 2008 Danish Grand Prix rider Michael Sogaard took over the ride and competed him for one year in Denmark in 2009 after which his student Nanna Skodborg Merrald rode him at national Under 25 level in 2010. The stallion was gelded in 2011.
In September 2012 Lone Boegh Henriksen's daughter Rose Marie Bang Henriksen began competing Rosentanz at M-level in Denmark. They competed at the 2014 Danish Junior Riders Championships and showed once at a CDI in 2014 in Saumur.
Laminitis
Rosentanz returned to HP horses in Hillerød to enjoy his retirement to the field. Unfortunately the gelding developed laminitis and a pain free life was no longer possible.
"For 18 years he has been a dear family member and we have had so many joys and experiences with him," said Lone. "Now the time had come to say goodbye. An increasing lameness and a metabolic disease meant that he was no longer painfree and could enjoy life in the field. A life on pain medication was just something we did not want for him."
Danish Dressage Championships
"We have so much to be thankful for and Rosentanz had the biggest heart of gold," said Lone. "He will always have a very special place in our hearts. We have just sent him off towards the stars with his stomach full of apples, carrots, freshly groomed and high on love and kisses and hugs."
Rosentanz was the first breeding stallion of HP Horses. He was followed by Hoftanz and then of course, Furstenball of which Lone sold a half ownership share to Paul Schockemöhle after he became Oldenburg licensing champion. After Furstenball, HP Horses' stallion roster grew with Vitalis, Total Hope and Vivaldon, amongst others.
Legacy
Rosentanz has 175 offspring registered in Danish Warmblood and 32 offspring registered for sport with the German equestrian federation. He sired one licensed son and two state premium daughters.
His most successful offspring ended up competing in the United States.
Kimberly Herslow bought Rosmarin (by Rosentanz x Weltmeyer) at Johannes Westendarp's yard and went on to win the 2013 U.S. Young Horse Championships and team gold at 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada. It was Rosmarin's last international show as he sustained a top sport career ending injury.
