Duisenberg, the Grand Prix horse that has been internationally competed by German Jessica Süss, has been sold to Korea. He has been acquired as an Asian Games hopeful for Hyun Woo Do.
Duisenberg is 12-year old Hanoverian gelding by Desperados out of Weltluna (by Weltmeyer). He is bred by Heinz Schutte.
Licensed Stallion
He was licensed at the 2011 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing, where a group of investors led by Thomas Stuhldreier bought him at auction.
Two months later the chestnut was Oldenburg approved. He completed his 30-day stallion performance test in Schlieckau in 2013 and scored 8.18 for dressage and 7.60 for show jumping.
His was first trained and competed by Ann-Christin Wienkamp, making his show debut in February 2013. As of 2015 German based Frenchman Raphael Thomas took over the ride and qualified him for the 2015 Bundeschampionate, where he finished 34th in the 6-year old preliminary test.
Duisenberg was gelded to be focused on sport and has just 11 offspring registered with the German FN.
Jessica Süss
In 2017 Jessica Süss began showing the horse at M-level. She took him up to small tour by riding almost all Nurnberger Burgpokal qualifiers for Dveloping PSG horses in 2018, but did not make it to the finals despite the effort. In 2019 the owners' group put Duisenberg up for sale, while in the meantime Süss had moved Duisenberg up to the Developing Grand Prix horse tests in the spring.
In the summer of 2019 Jessica found a new owner for Duisenberg in former international young rider Carolin Fehlings. Süss retained the ride on the tall chestnut and Fehlings also put several Farbentanz (by Farbenspiel x Love Me) Sinfonie (by Sir Heinrich x Windspiel As), and Barcelona (by Beltano x Sir Savoy) in Jessica's training. In the summer of 2021 Barcelona was shown by Michael Kaden-Sowe.
Süss and Duisenberg made their international Grand Prix debut at the 2020 CDI Mariakalnok, the first show after the first corona lockdown. The pair rode in two further World Cup qualifiers that year, in Pilisjaszfalu and Aarhus. In 2021, Suss went full throttle with Duisenberg and rode him in Salzburg, Opglabbeek, Mariakalnok, Herzlake, Hagen and their efforts were rewarded with a starting place at the prestigious CDIO Aachen, where they finished 15th in the 4* Grand Prix and 8th in the Freestyle.
To Korea
According to the horse dealer who brokered the sale, Duisenberg has been sold to Korea after try-out at Isabell Werth's yard.
He found a new owner in the 18-year old Korean young rider Hyun Woo Do, who has set the 2022 Asian Games in Huangzhou, China, as his goal.
"Duise was not just "any" horse to me, he was something special," Süss took to Facebook. "Duisenberg, you will always hold a place in my heart, but you will also give your new rider so many wonderful moments!"
