The 3-year old Night Star, the 4-year old Messy D, and the 5-year old Linskymorijke became the winners of the "Young Horse Talent" competition hosted by riding club Pluvinel at equestrian centre Rust Roest in Maren-Kessel, The Netherlands.
The competition is an unaffiliated young horse show which offers the opportunity to rider to present their young horses in a competition atmosphere.
3-YO: Night Star
In the 3-year old division, junior rider Micky Schelstraete steered the stallion Night Star (by In Style x Scandic) to the victory with 88 points. It was the first show for Night Star and he bested a field of 60 competitors, scoring 8.5 for walk and 9 for trot and canter. Night Star is owned by Schelstraete in partnership with Dutch stallion owner Joop van Uytert.
Laura Sprong and New Star (by Everdale X OO Seven) became the runner-up with 86.5 points. She tied with professional Theo Hanzon aboard gelding Nabuco van het Goorhof (by Secret x Don Juan de Hus) with the same amount of points.
4-YO: Messy D
The 4-year old horses had to compete in two rounds. Fleur Prinssen and the KWPN gelding Messy D (by Dream Boy x Johnson x Zeoliet) topped the 4-year old division with 86 points, while in round two they earned 100 points. They totalled a winning 186 points. Prinsen's Messy D scored 8 for walk, 9 for trot and 8.5 for canter.
The Pluvinel competition was the pair's first show together. Prinsen discovered and bought Messy D at the 2017 Prinsjesdag foal auction for 8,000 euro. As a 3-year old he was first ridden by Diederik van Silfhout and then Febe van Zwambaft. The latter presented the horse in the Pavo Cup. Prinsen took over the ride this summer after he got gelded.
Krista Kolijn and Diederik Wigmans' Dutch bred Ma Belle (by Governor x Vivaldi) were second with 179 points. Spaniard Curra Benitez Sanchez and his own and Kirsten Beckers' Dutch bred Magic Johnson (by Johnson x United) slotted in third with 174 points.
5-YO: Linskymorijke
Marielle Spierings and the KWPN mare Linskymorijke (by Negro x Krack C) topped the board in the 5-year old division with 81.5 points in round one and 95 points in round two (total 175.6 points). Seventeen combinations participated. Linskymorijke is bred and owned by the Schellekens family.
Polish Wojciech Andrzejewski and Tamara Di Lombardo's German bred Santano (by Fürst Heinrich x Brentano) followed in the distance with 166 points in second place, while international FEI rider Christianne Goes was third on Leonardo VDT (by Zonik x Jazz) with 163 points.
