Combinations Announced for 2022 Preis der Besten

The German equestrian federation (FN) has announced the combinations that have qualified for the 2022 Preis der Besten in Warendorf on 20 - 22 May 2022.

Two qualifiers for the Preis der Besten were held at the beginning of April: in Kronberg on 1 - 2 April for the southern based riders. They were faced by a cold front of snow and icy wind. Last weekend the northern based German youth riders met at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen for their qualifier.

The Preis der Besten is a German U21 competition which starts with training seminars, where the regional and national team trainers made a selection of those riders eligible to go to the qualifier. The best pairs at these two qualification events are invited to the actual Preis der Besten in Warendorf, which is also the first German team selection trial for the European Youth Championships in the summer.

This year it stands out that the group of young riders is strikingly smaller than other years, which seems to prompt the question if no mistake was made in the official press release. For instance, 2021 European Junior champion Lucie-Anouk Baumgurtel, who moved to the YR division, has been notified she is qualified for the Preis der Besten with Hugo and Farlana, but her name is not included in the press release. Eurodressage added the names of the riders who did receive an invitation.
