No show organisation succeeds more in making dressage riders salivate for a CDI show and slam the door in their face shortly afterwards than the Global Champion's Tour.

The Global Champions Tour, the poshest of show jumping circuits at unique locations across the world (such as on Miami Beach, St. Tropez, at the foot of the Eiffel tower in Paris) held yet another carrot in front of dressage riders' mouths, when they officially listed a CDI 4* in Cannes on the FEI calendar (4 - 6 June 2022).  This week the CDI silently disappeared from the calendar and got cancelled.

In 2020, the GCT announced it would stage a CDI 4* at Jan Tops' grand property in Valkenswaard, The Netherlands, but the show was .... cancelled. In 2013 they announced a similar leg in London. It never happened.

This CDO 4* in Cannes was rumoured to be sponsored by French horse breeder Sylvain Massa, who is based in Les Arc near Vidauban, France.

Eurodressage contacted alleged sponsor Sylvain Massa as well as GCT director Marco Danese, Cannes organizer Leslie Reverchon, and the GCT social media team with questions about this highly anticipated 4* in the posh riviera city. None of them replied.

It's a pity that the Global Champions Tour fails to include a top level dressage class into their programme.  From 2008 till 2010 the Dutch organisation behind the "World Dressage Masters" staged three CDI's in Cannes to great success. The WDM organisation then went bankrupt.
