Klaus Roeser became the recipient of the German Rider's Cross in silver at the 2022 German Dressage Championships in Balve, Germany, on 12 May 2022.

During the award ceremony for the Grand Prix Freestyle on Sunday, dressage rider Isabell Werth and FN President Hans-Joachim Erbel paid tribute to Roeser's outstanding commitment to German dressage sport. Klaus is the secretary-general of the International Dressage Riders Club (IDRC) and chairman of the dressage committee of the German Olympic Committee for Equestrianism (DOKR)/

"You will be with us for many years to come and I'll keep on doing it for a few more days," Isabell Werth said at the ceremonY. "So you have to stay on board and then I hope we'll see each other again at the award ceremony for the Golden Rider's Cross."

The 58-year-old Klaus Roeser has been chairman of the DOKR dressage committee since 2009. From 2015 to 2019 he was also deputy chairman and representative of the show organizers in the FEI dressage committee.  Roeser fulfils all of these functions in addition to his main job as commercial manager on the board of the Lüsche Animal Clinic in Lower Saxony.

He was successful with various horses up to advanced level. Born in Essen, he accompanied the German dressage team as chef d'equipe at the Olympic Games as well as World and European Championships. During this time, the German dressage riders won more than 30 medals at international championships, including three gold, three silver and one bronze medal at the Olympic Games.

"Only those who have had a function on a championship team know how demanding the task of a team captain can be," said FN President Hans-Joachim Erbel in his laudatory speech in Balve. "One secret to Klaus Roeser's success as chef d'equipe may lie in his own vita. Already at a young age, he was introduced to the special circumstances of equestrian sport and especially dressage through excellent trainers such as Gustav Menke and even Fritz Tempelmann . He was later able to combine this expertise with his skills and knowledge as a manager. In addition, there is a large portion of healthy ambition."
