Alejandro Sánchez del Barco has withdrawn Trapalo de Indalo from competing at the 2022 World Championships for young dressage horses in Ermelo on 7 - 11 September 2022.
Sanchez del Barco was one of the big sensations at the 2022 World Championships in Herning aboard the PRE stallion Quincallo de Indalo.
Heat
The 7-year old Trapalo de Indalo is very similarly bred, sharing the same sire and dam sire (Esbelto VII x Bandolero LXVII), but out of a different dam line.
Sanchez competed Trapalo at the 2021 World Championships in Verden and was re-selected for the 2022 WCYH in Ermelo. The rider, however, has decided not to make the journey north as the horse has not been coping well with the hot summer temperatures
"Trapalo has been suffering from the high temperatures and we have decided to leave him be and focus on our next objective more calmly," said Alejandro. "At Indalo, the health of our horses comes first. Good luck to all the components of the Spanish expedition."
Sanchez del Barco and Yeguada del Indalo are based in Andalusia, one of the hottest parts in Spain.
15 Starting Places, Only sending 11
The Spanish equestrian federation, together with ANCCE and ANCADES, did not name any reserve combinations and this in the year that WBFSH decided to give Spain and extra starting place per age category based on the size of its studbooks.
Spain is eligible to send 5 (!) horses per age category but instead is sending 5 five-year olds, 4 six-year olds, and now only 2 seven-year olds.
