The 2023 Bundeschampionate circuit kicked off in Elmlohe on 7 - 8 April 2023 with the first qualifier of the season. The 5-year old Donna Fiorella and the 6-year old Final Dream were the winners of the L and M-level dressage horse test.
No less than 61 locations have been allocated to host qualification classes this spring and summer season in the lead-up to the Bundeschampionate in Warendorf in September
5-YO: Donna Fiorella
Twenty-one horses lined up for the 5-year old qualifier and no less than five horses scored high enough for a ticket to Warendorf. The winner of the class was Melanie Tewes aboard Jens Meyer's Hanoverian mare Donna Fiorella (by Don Martillo x First Dance). The pair scored a winning 8.4 mark with 8 for walk and canter, 8.5 for trot, 9 for submission and 8.5 for general impression
Maxi Kira von Platen and Helgstrand's Oldenburg gelding Summerglow (by Secret x Dancier) was the runner-up on 8.3 points. This black gelding received 8.5 for walk and canter, 8 for trot and submission and 8.5 for general impression.
Helen Langehanenberg and the French owner Fänomen de Malleret (by Foundation x Sezuan) were third on 8.1 points, while Swedish Jessica Lynn Thomas placed fourth and fifth with Lovsta Stutteri's Be My Love (by Bon Coeur x Floriscount) and the 2022 Bundeschampion Segantini (by Secret x Fidermark). She got 8.0 with both horses.
The class was judged by Wolfgang Schierloh, Heinz-Holger Lammers, and Marret Maucher.
6-YO: Final Dream
The 6-year old division was slightly smaller with twelve pairs that were judged by Jurgen Bockmann, Heinz-Holger Lammers and Wolfgang Schierloh.
Kira Goerens-Ripphoff topped the board on Anke Dieckell's Hanoverian gelding Final Dream (by Franziskus x Weltmeyer) with a whopping 8.8 total. The dark bay gelding got 8.5 for walk, canter, and submission, 9.5 for trot and 9 for general impression.
Helen Langehanenberg and the Hanoverian gelding Fabajo (by Furst Belissaro x Wolkentanz) finished second with 8.5. The black gelding, who is listed as owned by Hanwha Hotels & Resorts, scored 8 for walk and canter, 9 for trot and submission and 8.5 for general impression.
Luxembourg Mathis Goerens and his own Oldenburg gelding Feuerfunke OLD (by Franziskus x Foundation) were third with 8.0 and got 7.5 for walk, 8.5 for trot and canter, 7.5 for submission and 8 for general impression.
