World Cup Finalist mare Mazy Klovenhoj being bred for embryotransfer

2023 World Cup Finalists Johanna Due Boje and Mazy Klovenhoj will not be competing at the 2023 Swedish Grand Prix Championships this weekend. The mare is currently being bred for embryotransfer and will then pick up her sport career again.

Mazy Klovenhoj is a Swedish warmblood mare by Bocelli out of Manzana xx (by National Zenith xx). She is bred by Annette Karlsson and Aksel Primdahl.

No Swedish Championships

Due Boje and Mazy are regulars at the Swedish Championships: they won the gold medal at the  2019 edition and earned silver in 2020 and 2022.

They were the non-travelling reserves for the 2021 Olympic Games, and got their moment to represent Sweden at the 2023 World Cup Finals in Omaha (USA) last April. They finished 8th in the Kur to Music with 76.118%. It was their last international so far

Embryotransfer

Due Boje explained her absence from the 2023 Swedish Championships as she has decided to breed a foal out of Mazy with embryotransfer.

"We are busy trying to make an embryo-baby from Mazy and two days ago when we checked her at the clinic she was very ready to get inseminated," Johanna explained. "This has been in the plan(ning) for a long time and this is the best timing considering the bigger international shows coming up later in June and July."

Due Boje told Eurodressage that the sire of choice is Skyline to B, the German licensed 5-year old stallion by Blue Hors St. Schufro x Ampere x Sir Schölling.

"She released two eggs and Friday next week we will flush them out. If we're lucky there might even be two embryos. Mazy will take it easy and enjoy the field until then and after that we can pick up the training like normally again."

Johanna hopes to compete on team Sweden at the CDIO Rotterdam or Aachen.
