Danish professional dressage rider Anne Rosleff Troensegaard and her 2018 World Young Horse Championship ride Delizia are no longer a combination.
Delizia is a 10-year old Danish warmblood mare by Furstenball out of Duchesse Petit (by De Niro). She is bred by Lotte Kulle.
Anne Troensegaard
The black mare was trained from young horse level to FEI by Anne Troensegaard.
They made their show debut in Denmark in the 4-year old young horse classes in June 2017. They competed at the 2017 Danish Young Horse Championships and were 35th in the preliminary round with 75.8 points.
In 2018 they represented Denmark at the World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo, where they finished 22nd in the 5-year old consolation finals with 72.600 points. Two months later they were 11th in the finals of the 2018 Danish Young Horse Championships.
Troensegaard showed the mare once in 2018, once in 2020 and then had a 2.5-year old break from competition. In this period she was bred by Iron and produced the now yearling "Isn't it Ironic". Delizia returned to the national arena with her in January 2023 at MB-level, winning two classes.
Parting Ways
Troensegaard has now parted ways with the mare as co-owner and breeder Lotte Kulle decided to sell.
"Sadly I can’t continue to have her, I only have half of her," Anne told Eurodressage. "My partner wants to sell her and I can’t afford to have two horses on Slangerupgård. The cost of two horses is sadly too much."
The horse has moved in training with Anne-Mette Strandby Hansen.
From Set Back to Come Back
"He twisted his ankle, but now he is back," Anne said with a smile, adding the joke that "well, he is a bit naughty and I think he misses competing."
Anne's break from showing was not only because of the health set back, but she herself has been struggling with her eye sight and needed a medical intervention.
"I have just had some issues with my eyes but hopefully soon back in business," she said optimistically. "Twenty-five years ago I was operated for retinal detachment. My sight is quite poorly, the step before having a service dog," she said with a wink. "Luckily I always benefit from contact lenses. Now I again had some holes in the retina and need some laser treatment, but I will survive."
