Long-Listed 5-YO Horses after First German WCYH Selection Trial 2023

The German Equestrian Federation is holding its first of two selection trials for the 2023 World Young Horse Championships at the DOKR headquarters in Warendorf on 19 - 21 June 2023. 

On the first two days the selectors saw the 5-year old candidates in training ( June) and ride the preliminary test (20 June). Based on those two rounds, the selectors picked a group of 5-year olds which are eligible to re-present themselves at the second selection trial.

No less than 30 five-year old horses were presented for training and 29 of them performed the test.  Fourteen of made the cut. Eight of them are stallions, three are geldings, and two mares. 

Best represented sire in the 5-year old group is Secret with three offspring on to the next round. Four of the 14 horses are owned by Helgstrand.

Tomorrow, 21 June, the long list of 6 and 7-year olds will be announced.
