Time to go to Hagen am Teutoburger Wald. If you want to experience even more international dressage competition after the superb European Championships in Riesenbeck, you should plan a visit to the CDI Hagen from 21 - 24 September.
Riders from 25 nations are on the list of competitors who will transform Hof Kasselmann into a global dressage mecca over four days.
In addition to the sport, the popular Hagen restaurant 'FachWerk' will provide culinary entertainment, while 16 exclusive dressage foals will be looking for their new owners at the DSP Breeders Association's auction 'Their Majesties'.
55 Riders in the Grand Prix
55 participants are entered for the CDI4* Tour, one of them being Swedish Grand Prix rider Patrik Kittel, for whom a start at Hof Kasselmann is almost a must. He will show his mare Forever Young HRH and prominent recent addition Galleria's Bohemian. Like Kittel, his compatriot Tinne Vilhelmson Silfvén has been a member of the Swedish team at international championships several times. Her greatest successes include team bronze medals at the 2005 and 2007 European Championships and a fifth place in the individual classification at the 2014 World Equestrian Games. This year she added the title of vice champion at the Swedish Championships with the Holsteiner Devanto.
Austrian Diana Porsche will travel to the Borgberg venue with two horses and many good memories and already announced on social media.
"We are saving our energy for the CDI Hagen in September. I have competed at Hof Kasselmann a few times and was able to win the bronze medal there at the U25 European Championships in 2016. I connect many beautiful and emotional moments with it, so I'm really looking forward to it."
The German colours will be represented by Bianca Nowag-Aulenbrock (Ostbevern), Evelyn Eger (Hagen a.T.W.), Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeier (Paderborn) and Michael Klimke (Münster), among others. Highlights of the four-star tour are the Freestyle on Saturday afternoon and the Special on Sunday afternoon.
Competition starts on Thursday
Frederic Wandres (Hagen a.T.W.) won European Championship silver with the German team on Bluetooth OLD in Riesenbeck. In the Hagen CDI1* Tour he will saddle the Hanoverian Quizmaster FRH, with whom he has already celebrated many wins at Small Tour level.
One to watch among the 34 entries is also the Danish Olympian and former team trainer Nathalie zu Sayn- Wittgenstein with her own horse Blue Hors Fifty Cent.
The national classes for amateurs and the CDI-U25 for young talents under the age of 25 are also well represented with a total of 58 entries. Here, Britain's Emily Bradshaw and France's Carla Marie Dufil and the German contingent consisting of Jeannine Merit Pelzer, Anna Schölermann, Victoria Marie Schönhofen, Cosima von Fircks and Lia Welschof will ride for victory in the Grand Prix and Freestyle.
They will all be put to the test when the first horse sets foot into the dressage arena set up in the jumping stadium on Thursday, 21 September from 8:30 am. The streaming portal ClipMyHorse.TV broadcasts live.
