One day after claiming the reserve champion's title at the 2023 Danish Young Horse Championships, Hesselhoj's Darwin has been sold to Sweden.
Hesselhoj Darwin is a 7-year old Danish warmblood gelding by Hesselhoj Donkey Boy x Solos Landtinus. He is bred by Lisbeth Bredmose Andersen.
Hesselhoj
Darwin a half brother to three licensed stallions: Touche (by Tuschinski) and Olympus and Orion (both by Don Olymbrio).
He was scouted by Dorthe and Hans Jørgen Hoeck of stable Hesselhoj and received the Hesselhoj prefix, even though he was not bred by them.
Darwin was pre-selected for the 2019 Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing in Herning, but was not licensed. He stayed in training at Hesselhoj and was ridden by their son, Anders Sjobeck Hoeck. He showed the horse in two shows in the summer of 2020.
Stald Solyst - Cathrine Dufour
In January 2021 Darwin sold to Stald Solyst of Finnish Olympian Mikaela Lindh and her husband Poul Fabricius-Bjerre.
The gelding was intended as a Grand Prix hopeful for Mikaela, but unfortunately she got struck by cancer and lost her brave battle against the disease in February 2023.
In 2022 Cathrine Dufour took over the training of Darwin and she debuted him in January 2023 at a regional show in Helsinge, winning an MB level test. In September she qualified him for the Nationals by winning the 7-year old test with 85.043%. At last weekend's 2023 Danish Young Horse Championships they finished second with 80.557%.
Sold to Sweden
The bay gelding has now been sold to Katrin Frick in Sweden.
Frick has been competing in Sweden at national small tour level this year with Swedish warmblood mare Zilla SK (by Zuidenwind x Hitchcock).
