The German equestrian federation has issued a statement that they are investigating potential German involvement in the alleged horse abuse case concerning U.S. Grand Prix rider Cesar Parra.

On 2 February the FEI issued a statement that Olympian Cesar Parra (USA) has been provisionally suspended "while the FEI investigates the disturbing and abhorrent images and videos in relation to his training techniques that have recently emerged."

On one of the videos that have been circulating, some viewers claim to have recognized two German individuals participating in and/or witnessing whipping of a horse. The German equestrian federation (FN) is now carrying out an investigation.

The FN stated on Saturday 3 February 2024:

"On Friday night, the German Equestrian Association (FN) also received a collection of videos and images from various sources that show shocking treatment of horses. People from Germany are presumably involved. The FN will file a complaint with the public prosecutor's office and will also closely examine whether people were involved against whom the FN can investigate and initiate proceedings."
