U.S. Olympian Guenter Seidel has received the ride on a new Grand Prix hopeful from sponsor Louise Leatherdale.  In the spring of 2023 the Rhinelander gelding Jack arrived in his barn in California.

Jack ia a 2012 born gelding by Johnson out of Dimensa (by Dimension x Romadour II). He is bred by Belgian Joseph Faymonville at Gestut Sonnenhof

Warwick McLean

The horse was previously owned by Helena and Per Westerlund in partnership with Carolina and Warwick McLean.

Jack first competed as a 4-year old in Germany in 2016 under Chloe Morris Talbot. In 2017 Caroline McLean took over the ride and rode him to M-level until 2020.

Then Carolina's Australian husband, Warwick McLean, produced Jack to Grand Prix level. They made their international show debut at the 2022 CDI Lier at medium tour level and went to the CDI Olomouc two months later. Their international Grand Prix premier followed in September 2022 at the CDI Troisdorf, although they were rung out.

In January through March 2023 the pair did some national Grand Prix classes in Wickrath and Kerken, before dropping back to medium tour level for the CDI Le Mans in April 2023, where they posted a victory in the Inter II and a second place finish in the Intermediaire B

In May 2023 Jack sold to Louise Leatherdale as a ride for Guenter Seidel. It's the fifth competition horse Leatherdale has given to Seidel.

Seidel on Leatherdale's Beltano
Seidel began his collaboration with Leatherdale Fams in February 2018 with the Hanoverian gelding Beltano (by Belissimo M x Hohenstein). In May 2019 Louise purchased Equirelle W (by Florett As x Donnerhall) in The Netherlands for Guenter to ride.  In July 2022 Louise bought the rising GP horse Laurin in Spain for Guenter to ride, but the horse is yet to make its US show debut. Last autumn, Guenter premiered Louise's home-bred Hanoverian Bogart (by Beltano x His Highness) at small tour level at the CDI Thermal. Last weekend they were second in the Prix St Georges with 71.030% at the 2024 CDI Del Mar.

Guenter and Jack made their national show debut in the Intermediaire II at the CDN Thermal in October 2023, scoring 73.971%. He showed him in three more Inter II tests at the end of that year.

Guenter is also developing his own 7-year old Hanoverian Frankie Jennissen (by Fahrenheit x Lauries Crusador xx x Bolero) which his life partner Sean Caddell bought in Germany from breeder Marion Jennissen as a 4-year old.
