Almost two months after the Olympic race for individual quota places ended on 31 December 2023, the FEI has finally confirmed which countries have obtained one of 15 individual slots.
The Teams
Sixty combinations in total are allowed to compete at the 2024 Olympics of which 45 will be represented on 15 teams of 3 riders.
Countries that have qualified are France, Denmark, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Holland, USA, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Poland, Canada, Australia, Portugal, and Finland.
Three countries are ranked as "reserve NOCs" in case a nation drops out (like for instance Poland which has a difficult task ahead of them to get three riders to achieve their MER this season). The three reserve countries are Switzerland, Norway, Luxembourg in that order.
The Individuals
The remaining 15 slots go to individual starters.
The countries which have obtained an individual slot based on Olympic ranking points are:
- Group A: Norway and Ireland
- Group B: Luxembourg and Switzerland (the reserve spots are Italy and Boznia)
- Group C: Lithuania and Moldova (the reserve spots are Hungary and Estonia)
- Group D and E: Brazil and Ecuador through Pan Am Games // Dominican Republic and Venezuela through ranking (the reserve spots are Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay)
- Group F: Morocco and Palestine (the reserve spots are South Africa and Qatar)
- Group G: New Zealand and Singapore (the reserve spots are Korea and Japan)
- Highest ranked NOC not yet qualified: India
At the start of January the team of Eurodressage had made an unconfirmed calculation of these spots and only one turned out to be different. The estimated spot for Chile has gone to Venezuela.
