While Emmelie Scholtens has withdrawn from competing at the 2024 World Cup Finals in Riyadh, Western European League (WEL) qualified riders Charlotte Fry and Nanna Skodborg Merrald have confirmed that they will go to Saudi Arabia.
Lottie Fry
After the 2024 CDI-W 's Hertogenbosch both Fry and Scholtens expressed hesitation over competing in Riyadh as the Olympic Games are the top priority this season. Scholtens pulled out with Indian Rock, but Fry has Glamourdale as her number one for Paris. She rode Everdale in the World Cup qualifiers and won Mechelen and Amsterdam. Lottie has now confirmed she will be flying the Lord Leatherdale x Negro stallion to Riyadh for the Finals.
"Very excited that Everdale and I are heading to the World Cup Final in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia next month," Lottie took to Instagram. "He’s feeling better than ever and I’m so grateful to be on this journey with him. Massive thank you to our whole team, especially Anne and GertJan, making our dreams come true!"
Nanna Skodborg Merrald
Nanna Skodborg Merrald rode the WEL qualifiers with two horses: Blue Hors Zack and Blue Hors Don Olymbrio.
Zack had his retirement show at the World Cup season opener in Herning, while Don Olymbrio went to Stuttgart to place second and Amsterdam to finish fourth. Nanna had intended to compete a third horse on the circuit, Blue Hors Zepter, but a hoof abscess forced them to withdrew from the CDI-W Gothenberg.
Nanna will be taking the 16-year old KWPN bred Don Olymbrio (by Jazz x Ferro) to Riyadh.
