Belgian Grand Prix rider Nico Nyssen said goodbye to his international Grand Prix ride Geneva. The Dutch warmblood mare has been sold to American dressage rider Avery Hogan.
Geneva is a 13-year old Dutch warmblood mare by Sir Donnerhall out of Unanda (by Olivi x Ulft). She is bred by the late Piet Crum.
American Produced
The bay mare was discovered by American dressage rider Michael Pineo as a 3-year old prospect in The Netherlands.
He imported Geneva into the U.S.A. and produced her to Grand Prix level. He first competed her in 2019 at Grand Prix level in Tryon and rode her in several national GP classes in the U.S.A. through the early spring of 2020.
Following the successful campaign and sale of Pineo's Farrington by Nico Nyssen to Semmieke Rothenberger (GER), Geneva was sent to Belgium for Nico to prepare her for her CDI debut and sale.
Under Nyssen the bay mare premiered at the 2023 CDI Waregem in Belgium last September and most recently gained mileage and scores at the 2024 CDI Aachen Festival 4 Dressage.
Return to the U.S.A.
American-based trainer and sales agent Caroline Roffman and Nyssen collaborated on matching Geneva to her new owner and rider, Avery Hogan. Avery is a broker associate at Equestrian Sotheby's International Realty and a passionate dressage rider.
A third young GP gelding from Michael is now in Europe at the Nyssen barn to make its Grand Prix debut in Europe this summer.
"We are thrilled to welcome Geneva back to the USA," said Caroline. "Geneva's exceptional character and talent make her a perfect horse for Avery to gain Grand Prix miles with."
