The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) announced the dressage team that will represent Australia at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The team of three includes two team debutants. AOC also added that "the Australian team is subject to an ongoing appeal by a non-nominated athlete in the Dressage discipline."
The team that has been announced is:
- Simone Pearce - Destano
- Jayden Brown - Quincy B
- William Matthew - Mysterious Star
- reserve: Mary Hanna - Ivanhoe
In the press release team new comer Jayden Brown stated, "I couldn’t be more excited about representing Australia at my first Olympics with Quincy B, a horse I have trained since he was 3 years old. I’m incredibly grateful to Terry and Ginette Snow, Quincy’s owners who have supported this dream, and could not have done it without them.”
Second team debutant William Matthew said, "a huge thank you to my family for not thinking I was crazy and always believing in me, when I left Australia at 17 years old with a suitcase, 2000$ and a dream to ride Olympics."
Mary Hanna, who will be heading to her 7th Olympics in her career, this time as a reserve, stated, "a huge congratulations to our Paris Olympic Dressage team, Simone Pearce, Jayden Brown, and William Mathew, on their selection. A fantastic team, and I am very proud to support them as reserve rider. The reserve rider accompanies the team in the venue and is on standby to step into the team should any combination be unable to compete. After 6 Olympics, it will be the 7 th that I have attended but in a different capacity."
