The filly Midt-West St. Lucia became the best seller of the first foal auction the Danish warmblood society hosted in 2024. The event took place at the former Blue Hors stud in Randboel on 6 July 2024.
The collection included 16 foals of which 12 were colts and just 4 were fillies.
The most expensive foal was the filly Midt-West St. Lucia (by St. Schufro x Revolution). She sold for 18,000 euro to Ulrik and Mille Knudsen.
The second most expensive foal was another filly: Saybia Pilekær (by Vitalis x Apache). She sold for 10,000 euro and Ridehesten reported that she was also acquired by the Knudsen couple.
Colt Midt-West Donatello (by Hesselhøj Donkey Boy x Franklin) went for 8,500 euro.
Not even half the collection of foals sold. Just 44% of them found new owners. Two sold to the U.S.A. The average price of a foal was 9,643 euro.
The lack of interest in foals is a common market trend with a drop in sales and prices at foal auctions across Europe. However, Danish warmblood did not advertise or promote this auction and many people were unaware of it being held.
