Eva Möller's retirement from competition sport was short lived as the highly decorated young horse rider has come out of it to qualify Helgstrand's Be Sure for the Bundeschampionate.
In July 2023 the now 51-year old Möller made the surprising announcement that she was packing up her show boots. The ride on her heart horse Global Player was given to assistant Leonie Richter for the 2023 World Young Horse Championships.
One year later, Möller was back in the show ring with Helgstrand's Hanoverian stallion Be Sure (by Benicio x Scuderia) to ride him to victory in the 6-year old BuCha qualifier held at the 2024 Hanoverian Young Horse Championships in Verden on 7 August. In the M-level class with 19 competitors she topped the board with 8.34 points. Be Sure, who was previously shown by Dane Thomas Sigtenbjerggaard, got 7.8 for walk, 8.8 for trot, 9 for canter, 7.6 for submission and 8.5 for general impression. The pair edged out Rieke Harms on Astrid Heise-van Dyk's mare Sanna von der Weide (by Secret x Rohdiamant) on 8.22 and new pair Hannah Laser on Gut Schönweide's licensed stallion Sky (by Sezuan x Sir Donnerhall) with 8.06.
"It's a short term come back...so far," Möller told Eurodressage, leaving the door open for more showing. "It's just because of the timing of the Bundeschampionate and the World Young Horse Championships on the same weekend."
No less than 31 pairs contested the 5-year old L-level class and they were split into two groups. The winner in group 1 was Tessa Frank aboard Yasmin Troike's Hanoverian Siempre Conmigo (by Secret x Dancier) with an 8.46 score. The gelding earned 8.5 for walk, 8 for trot, 8.8 for canter, and 8.5 for submission and general impression. Frank made it a double as she also won group 2 aboard the Brandenburger state stud's Oldenburg stallion Queraz (by Quaterback x Desperados) with 8.24 points. The stallion got 8.6 for walk, 7.6 for trot, 8 for canter, 8.5 for submission and 8.3 for general impression.
