The comprehensive breeding and training programme of Elite Dressage continues to go from strength to strength with two of the horses selected for Longines FEI WBFSH World Breeding Championships in Ermelo been born and bred at Newton Stud and a third in training next door at Elite Dressage.
Five year old Newton Sylvanite (by Torveslettens Sylvester x Don Schufro, owned by Olympic rider Fiona Bigwood and six year old Fever Tree (by Foundation x Dayano), bred by David Stone, and were both born at Newton Stud. Sylvanite (Seth) was brought up in Devon and backed and produced by the Elite Dressage team before being snapped up by Fiona as a four year old, whilst Fever Tree (known as Gordon and ridden by Dannie Morgan) started life in Devon and then left once weaned to live back with David. Meanwhile, the reserve six year old horse WHD Elton, owned by Lauren Taylor, is trained and produced by Beth Bainbridge, Head Rider at Elite Dressage.
Stud Manager Lucy Coffin explained, “We are so proud of Gordon and Seth on their way to the World Breeding Championships in Ermelo and we can’t wait to support these fantastic horses born right here with us in Devon compete against the world’s best in the Netherlands.”
Back on home turf, this year’s Annual Foal Sale at Newton Stud will showcase the latest crop of foals as they are presented for grading. The Sale on Saturday 17th August will include foals by Extreme US, Millennium, St Shufro, Zack, Viconte, Bon Coeur and Escaneno, whilst the dam side reflects top sports mares including GBR Team mare Habouche, international small tour mare Tosca Too and proven dam lines of national champions and international dressage horses.
The free to attend event will also showcase the Elite Stallions’ Sezuzns Donnerhall and Galaxico under saddle, along with top broodmare Donna Schufro with her international competing offspring.
The team’s consistency in producing top class dressage horses has caught the eye of many international riders who recognise the breeding and training programme for producing generations of top-quality dressages horses. Alongside Fiona Bigwood, Olympic rider Diedrerik Van Silfhout, Dutch international competitors Diederik Wigmans and Krista Koljn and US Para Olympic trainer Michel Assouline have all purchased from Elite Dressage.
The Elite Dressage team pride themselves on their knowledgeable and professional approach and are always onhand to help with backing and producing young horses if needed, making the Annual Foal Sale an outstanding opportunity to find a future dressage star.
Anna and the team are proud to showcase generations of Elite Dressage horses from foal to Grand Prix all produced in a natural way, growing up in herds on the Devon hills. “It’s thrilling having seen Gordon, Seth and Elton on their young journey and now take to the world stage competing against the very best. We’re proud that our horses are hugely talented, but also happy sane and sound, as a result of our balanced breeding and training programme.”
