Professional dressage rider Kristine Brinch Møller and her long-time employer, Jens Thorsen of Gestut Pallerhof, have parted ways.
Møller has been riding for the Luxembourg based Trakehner breeding farm since 2005.
Trakehner Stars
The Danish born Luxembourg rider started her professional career as an assistant for Fie Skarsoe at Gestut Wiesenhof in Krefeld, before moving to Niederpallen (LUX) to ride at Pallerhof.
She ended up specialising in young horse training and competed up to Grand Prix level internationally.
She first rode at the World Young Horse Championships in Verden in 2007 with Pallerhof's Zenith (by Monteverdi x Saint Cloud). Four years later she returned there with Freak Blue Phantom OLD (by Florencio x Feinbrand) in 2011.
She did her first international Grand Prix tests on Merlot TSF (by Buddenbrock x Mago xx) in 2014 and came close to that level again in 2016 with Hamilton (by Distelzar x Fahnentrager II) and Reve en Noir (by Riccione x Lanthan).
She was a regular at the WCYH with Peguignet (by Prinz K2 x Silver Moon) and Standing O'Vation (by Imperio x Consul) in 2016 and 2017. Two years later she took Quatre Quarts A L'Orange (by Quaterhall x Royal Blend) and Spectre (by Sezuan x Silver Moon ) to the 2019 WCYH and was back again in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Her last major CDI horses were Spectre (last CDI September 2022 at small tour level) and Big Bang (by Bon Coeur x Quadroneur - last CDI at the 2023 WCYH in the 7-year old division).
Merlot was the only horse she got to compete at international Grand Prix level in 2014-2015. The majority of the other horses were shown up to medium tour. Some of them got sold
Parting Ways
Møller considered Quatre Quarts A L'Orange her Olympic hopeful but the 2024 Games came to soon. The mare did its first CDI Medium tour classes in Jardy in June 2024.
This Olympic dream will not materialize with Quatre Quarts as Møller announced on 14 September that she has parted ways with Pallerhof.
"Today marks the end of a chapter in my career which I had not seen coming and is still hard for me to put into words," Kristine stated. "As some of you may already know, after almost two decades of combined effort, my cooperation with Pallerhaff stud is unfortunately coming to an end towards the end of this year."
Quatre Quarts to Spain
She continued, "as I am going to embark on future challenges, the most difficult one right now is having to part ways with some of my dearest four legged friends, one of them being Quatre Quarts à l’Orange."
Quatre Quarts has been allocated to Spaniard Jose Antonio Garcia Mena.
"Even though the decision of relocating her was beyond my control, it is a bittersweet relief knowing that in the future, my friend and trainer José A. García Mena is taking over the reins and I am confident Quatre will continue to thrive and reach new heights," she said.
Møller is still quite frazzled about this new turn in her career.
"The future is still not sure, but I am working on some ideas," she told Eurodressage. "I live for the horses. I love to educate them, but sometimes you are very hurt. Time will heal I have heard."
Eurodressage reached out to Pallerhof which is preparing a statement in the near future.
